Design Styles for Everyone...

I once entered a contest to decorate the Country Living House of the Year. I was honored to be asked to enter, and even though I didn't win, it was a really fun experience.  So every year now I like to take a look and see what the designers do, what is their inspiration?  This year it seems to be very traditional. Where as prior it was a little more romantic, but with all things, style will evolve, and design styles and trends will repeat themselves in due time.

I find myself being more attracted to primitive furniture these days, I think it is the time worn patina, that weathered plank top on a farm table, or the scratches and scars on a cabinet that has been used and loved for many generations.  Like this fabulous settee that was original fabric, and original paint finish. One of my all time favorite pieces, I didn't dare change one thing about this one.

Yes I do love to give new life to furniture with a coat paint, or new upholstery, but sometimes things are better left alone. I often find myself being inspired by many other talented designers, and how they mix new with old, heavily carved with barn primitive, dark colors with white. Anything goes!!

Have you seen the Heiress collection by Ralph Lauren? A true inspiration of fabulous antique style, with luxurious and sumptuous fabrics, and classic style.  I have always taken inspiration from Ralph Lauren, his design styles are classic and timeless.

Fin!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Just happened on you today and what a joy. I love the worn patina of some things too and I love to mix it with a bit of glitz and painted things. Enjoyed my stop this evening.
