They stand at about 7.5 feet tall
Just to show you the size, I placed a quarter in the swag. The roses are like mini baseball size.
I was very lucky to come across these....
Another favorite piece of architectural salvage was this pediment.
It is also very large, over 4 feet wide
Solid carved ribbon, and roses.
This once was a door pediment
I wonder what was in the center of this oval? And why someone sanded
or took off what was there?
Never the less.... I love it just the way it is.
I still don't know what to do with it, I haven't found quite the right place to put it.
I love these old 1920 cement statues. I try to buy them whenever I can.
Once a part of a fountain or planter, they make wonderful architectural elements for the home.
This is mine I have in my dining room. I love the old crackle painted concrete.
My new column, I added the capitol. I used to have a very plain column, and I loved it, but out with the old and in with the new. I mean old. I mean new old. You know what I mean.
Now seriously my dining room is complete. I know I keep saying my rooms are finished, but as you all know, there is always something better out there.
When will it ever be finished?
I have 1 more capitol exactly like this, I don't know what I am going to do with it just yet.
I hope you all enjoyed my architectural white wednesday.
Totally over the top awesome pieces. I have always been a fan of architectural stuff! It just seems to call my name and I too wonder where the pieces came from!

Those are some great finds. Those rose swags are amazing. The pediment is my favorite. I could see a mirror in the middle. The other capital would look good as a cloche base with some little pretties inside. I am sure you will find something amazing to do with it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful columns -- beautiful Blog! I am now your newest Follower! Blessings, Diane

ReplyDeleteHi Loretta, what stunning finds!
ReplyDeleteI went from a 2400sqft home to a 700sqft condo and although I love my little place, space is a big issue.
So whenever I feel a little frustrated with my situation I come to your blog and lose myself in your pictures.
Thank you for providing me with a little escape from reality!

Incredibly beautiful, Loretta! Salvaged items always make such a romantic expression in room, don't they? I'm always on the lookout for them. Don't always know what room they're going to end up in - but just can't pass them up! Your capitals are just breathtaking!
